High school choir students will be competing at District Contest tomorrow. We will leave the school at noon. We compete at 2:48 as a group and then from 4:00 to 4:20 for solos and duet. There are no awards ceremonies so we will leave as soon as we are finished. North Platte students will be dropped off at the park. McPherson students will be dropped off at the school.

Good morning! I've had some reach out asking about the eclipse viewing. We will not be taking time to view the eclipse as a school. Our probability of seeing the eclipse was low and we did not purchase the glasses necessary for viewing. Here are some links to view the eclipse: https://www.exploratorium.edu/eclipse/livestream https://www.youtube.com/live/2MJY_ptQW1o?si=JS71THezqP2ftOuW

FFA members Isaac Goosey, Brayden McNutt, Levi Goosey and Rachael Kemp participated in the Farm and Agribusiness management CDE. The Nebraska FFA Farm and Agribusiness management career development event provides students with an understanding of the basic tenants of (a) economic principles related to business management, (b) use and analysis of records to manage resources (c) functions of risk management, and (d) business management. Students will be asked to recall and apply the material to actual and hypothetical management scenarios meant to replicate management decisions on farms, ranches, and other agricultural production units. Isaac Goosey was in the top 10%, tied for 22nd individually with a purple ribbon and Brayden McNutt was in the top 25%, tied for 70th individually receiving a blue ribbon. Rachael Kemp just missed placing in the top half, tied for 207th. Levi Goosey tied for 303rd place individually. There were 376 individuals. Team place 61st overall out of 96 teams.

McPherson County FFA members had the opportunity to tour the Hudl facility and learn about the business structure, careers, and the company inception. They learned the connection FFA has on their future career choice, even if it isn't an ag-based career. A few skills that are valuable and gained from being a member of the FFA are teamwork, communications, human relations, and social interaction.

McPherson County FFA members Brooklynn Fisher, Rachael Kemp and Saije Phelps participated in the penpal connect event. Throughout the year, students wrote letters to Omaha Bryan FFA members to learn about the agriculture in their area. Unfortunately, the Postal Service provided challenges for our letter exchanges. However, this is a great opportunity to network with other FFA members and learn about agriculture across the state including urban and rural agriculture. They also were able to learn about the variability in school and chapter sizes.

The McPherson County FFA started the 2024 State FFA Convention watching other chapters competing in the LDE Ag Demo! This opportunity allowed our students to see other chapters who excelled and gain ideas for next year's competition as well as see what it takes to make it to the next level. The purpose of agricultural demonstration is to develop the ability of FFA members to accurately explain a process that addresses a current agricultural industry practice, procedure, need, issue or focus. Students must demonstrate the skills required in the process while making a verbal presentation.
