Summer Update

As we wrap up the month of June I wanted to provide everyone with an update on our summer athletic activities and make a note of what is coming up in July.

Please continue to utilize the SVM Event Calendar to stay up to date on weight training and open gym sessions.

July will see us transition to Volleyball open gyms and Football camps. As a reminder: The Stapleton Public School Gymnasium will be closed for maintenance from July 1 until July 8th. Please do not disturb the work being completed during this time.

The weight room will remain on the same schedule. The week of July 1-3 will only be Mon, Tues, Wed). There will be no lifting session on July 4 - Enjoy celebrating Independence Day!

From May 28 to June 27 we had 19 official workout sessions in the weight room. Our average daily attendance for those days was 22 student athletes from grades 6-12. The high for that time period was 35. (We had two days with over 30 individuals in attendance!). Please give kudos to the athletes and coaches when you see them throughout the remainder of the summer and encourage them to continue to build upon the positive progress they are making.

Cross Country student athletes have been putting in work over the last few weeks as well. Combined the team members have logged nearly 90 miles as they prepare for the fall season. Coaches have been holding informal group runs at the school along with individual runs this summer.

Both girls and boys basketball teams have completed their summer league seasons. Our programs were able to compete in a dozen live contests against local area schools. Coaches reported promising growth and development across the board for many of our athletes.

Wrestling and Golf have also participated in multiple camps - refining the skills that will help them produce even better results in their seasons during the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.

There is still plenty of time and opportunity to join up with your chosen activity throughout the month of July. Please remember to get your sports physical completed and any other NSAA required paperwork from the office. Practice proper hydration and schedule adequate rest. If you have any questions please reach out to your coaches or Mr. Johnson. Keep working hard Mavericks!
